AI-Driven Physicians' Competencies: Transforming Organizational Challenges into Collaborative Opportunities
Thèse en Science de Gestion, soutenue le 15 décembre 2023.
Mots clés : Intelligence Artificielle ; Compétences ; Technologies numériques ; Établissements de santé ; Professionnels de santé ; Médecins
Given the expected revolutionary impact of AI on healthcare, it is necessary to implement a counter-revolution by updating the competencies of Healthcare Professionals (HP), and particularly physicians. The content of this counter-revolution should be captured by its revolutionaries, which are the physicians. In line with this aim, a thematic analysis was conducted on data gleaned from semi-structured interviews of 30 physicians with expertise in AI from several domains and countries. As a result, a set of six generic and transferable competencies has been revealed, which are AI literacy (theoretical technical and non-technical), deliberation driven by AI, Fundamental AI developers’ functional principles, Liability, AI Ethics, and Empathy. Besides, we have proved that the construction and acquisition of those competencies are impacted by two environments, and one dimensions, which are organizational environment, cultural environment, and collegial dynamics dimension. These three will have direct impact on the personal intrinsic and innate attributes like motives, traits, and self-image of physicians.
