The Center for Language Competence

The Center for Language Competence (Centre de Compétences en Langues) is a language self-study area, open to Jean Moulin University students and staff. After a complete renovation in 2022, it reopened its doors in October 2022 with a new range of services and innovative equipment.

The Language Skills Centre:
  • Enables self-study in over 200 languages, including rare languages not taught at the University;
  • Supports students in their linguistic work in the four competencies (oral and written comprehension, oral and written expression), grammar, vocabulary and business language;
  • Provides digital materials and resources;
  • Provides computer-assisted English language remedial training;
  • Provides assistance in preparing for foreign language certifications. The Language Skills Centre also helps to organise these certifications.

RapidMooc: a video creation studio

The Language Skills Centre is equipped with a RapidMooc, a video recording terminal with real-time green screen overlay.

RapidMooc provides:
  • a self-service studio;
  • total user autonomy, with no editing team;
  • real-time overlay of the user on the presentation;
  • a customisable video prompter;
  • a ready-to-use video as soon as the recording is finished.
