An off-site study program is French university education undertaken in a foreign country, and organised in partnership with a local university. Courses are taught by French professors who also form part of the decision panels for recruitment and examinations.
All or part of a subject can be "double taught", where certain elements are taught by both a French professor in order to give students the French or European Union perspective in that subject, and a local professor, who is able to impart the same information from the perspective of his own country.
French teachers conduct their courses in English or French, while local teachers use the local language or another language.
Off-site study programs differ in that they offer either a single degree (national degree) or two degrees (one French and one local).
Choosing which degree to study is influenced by teaching requirements and local economy conditions, in order to develop economic and commercial exchanges between France and the country of the off-site university.
